streetSNAP: Secret Sumatra

A boat, a train, 2 planes and a helluva long car ride. That’s what it takes to get to the South of Sumatra from Hong Kong. Was it worth it, YES! No hotels, no restaurants, no tourists, no resorts, just a couple of small, quiet villages huddled against the only road in the area. I went there to get uncrowded waves and explore. Most days i would leave the ‘losmen’ at about 5.30am, hop on a motorbike and drive to a secluded beach to surf before the wind picked up, i would return at about 12pm for lunch, have a nap and then head out again for another surf. That’s what life should be like everyday. I can’t wait to go back in a couple of years time, hopefully it stays exactly the same.

Next time on streetSNAP, return of the barber!

Cheers

Sean
