With 6000 or so people that live here, the island has attracted many Chinese, western and international people because of it’s laid back lifestyle, natural environment and cheap(in the past) living. Most of the population is concentrated in Yung Shue Wan and this is where all the candid pics below were taken. It’s a great place to be a street photographer as a quick trip down to the village with camera in hand, to buy some buns, milk or even a can of lager, may result in a great shot!
The last installment of ‘The People of Lamma Island’ is next week. Once again, if you like or live on Lamma make sure you check them out, who knows maybe I’ve got a picture of you!
I love Lamma! It’s been too long…
Couldn’t agree with you more. Whenever i travel out of HK for to long i get a bit homesick.
The V.V. Driver pictured is locally known by the island’s children as DMD… Dead Man Driving.
