impactHK: Junk Party Fundraiser

Hello Hong Kong!!

IMG_0787

I’m excited to announce our plans for impactHK’s Event 3!

Junk Party Fundraiser
Friday, June 6th
8:00pm-11:00pm
$400-including junk and drinks

The junk will depart Central Pier at 8:00pm. We’ll take a cruise towards Kwun Tong, enjoying the Hong Kong light show, and return to Central at 11:00pm.

If all goes to plan, we should be able to raise $10,000!

All money raised will go to a charity or cause of OUR choosing!

In the comments below please make suggestions as to where you think this money should be donated.

Where will it make the most impact?

In next Saturday’s impactHK blog, we will start VOTING on where this money should be spent.

Now, we only have 44 places on the junk, and I’m hoping it will sell out soon!

If you are interested, send me an email, theguestroom@icloud.com, to set up payment, as the first 44 to pay, are in.

Also in the email, please let me know your preferred poison; beer, cider, white wine, red wine or other. That way I can better judge how much of each to buy.

Please feel free to bring as many friends as you’d like. Also sharing this would be much appreciated.

Looking forward to it!

Mr.J

    I’ll get the ball rolling!

I’ve been speaking with someone from a big charity in HK that works directly with a lot of the people living in caged homes here.
Not sure if you’ve seen these places, but they’re pretty rough.

My suggestion is that we take all the money raised and purchase gift certificates to a supermarket near there and hand them out to these people.

That way 100% of the money raised goes directly to the people. I think that’s very important.

If we can raise $10,000, that 50*$200, which would surely help them out.

It would also give us the opportunity to bring some attention to this cause.

    Keep the suggestions coming!

We will start voting on where the money goes this coming Saturday!

Also, we need to fill the boat, so please get some friends and sign up ASAP!

Cheers and I look forward to seeing you there!

Hi everyone. Please consider The Path Finders Hong Kong as beneficiary for your next Impact HK project. They’re an NGO who help migrant women workers who have become pregnant while working here in HK. Most of them have been unlawfully fired from their jobs and some are now undocumented or have overstayed their visas. This organization provides these women and their children basic needs like food, shelter and clothing. They also give legal assistance for some labour-related cases and even assist them should they opt to put up their children for adoption. Any help from you guys will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mr. J!

Hi All, I would like to suggest putting the funds towards a environmental charity like the Clean Air Network, WWF or even a small one like the Naked Islands Project.
    Have a great junk trip!
