Let me introduce the newest blog in our weekly lineup, QQQQQ!
In this blog, I’ll interview unique and interesting people in and around Hong Kong with five questions.
At the end of the blog, in the comments section, you’ll also be able to ask some questions.
For our first week, I’m going to try pulling off an interview with myself.
This is not an easy task, but I’m going to give it a go!
Mr.J is one of the founding members of The Guest Room. He writes myHK, impactHK and now 5Qs.
Mr.J is a husband, father, teacher, blogger, and beer drinking fool.
Hey MrJ, thanks for doing this! I’ve been reading your blogs for a while now, how do you come up with stuff to write each week?
Good question! Having a phone/portable notebook strapped to my body at every minute helps. I have always been the type of guy who stares. I stare at buildings, people, shoes, etc. Some may call that creepy… I call it observant! When I see interesting things, I jot it down. For example, on the MTR the other day, I saw a guy using the Pole on the MTR as butt floss. I quickly jotted that down and you’ll probably read about that a bit down the road.
I know you’re a beer lover. Where’s your favourite spot to grab a pint?
Without a doubt, the balcony at The Pawn in Wanchai! Two pints before dinner and I’m a happy man! It’s such a laid back spot with a great view of HK life.
With 5Qs, what do you hope to accomplish?
World peace has to be our main goal, but if that doesn’t work out, I would love to just create some dialogue through connecting Hong Kongers. Next week, we’ve got a super cool Hong Kong radio personality, and the week after that a singer from Hong Kong who was recently signed by Capital Records and has a single with Snoop Dog!
It should be fun!
Any chance that we can have a follow up interview with you at a later date?
Not a chance…
Lastly, what’s next for The Guest Room?
We are excited to have two new blogs starting up this week. We feel that we’ve made our site more specific to Hong Kong. We hope to have more giveaways like our weekly Where N the 852? And we will have some fun quizzes coming your way.
Also, ImpactHK will have event 2 in May, which we’re really excited about!
Our new weekly schedule is;
Mon-Lion Rock News
Tues-ByJAR
Wed-myHK
Thur-StreetSNAP
Fri-5Qs
Sat-impactHK
Thanks to all of you who read, like and share our blogs!! We really appreciate it!!
If you have any suggestions for who we should interview on 5Qs or have any questions for MrJ, let us know in the comments below.
Cheers!

Hello Mr J,
Am enjoying the blog and hope you keep it up for more years to come.
Here is my question for you: where is the best unknown spot in Hong Kong? A place the locals know but not the tourists.
Cheers
Hey Neil
Thanks for reading!!
Tourists in HK are quite predictable and easy enough to avoid. So there are quite a few great spots that I could recommend.
I’d say the NoHo area just north of Hollywood road near Square Street is a great place to grab a coffee, and chill out. Also Tai Hang behind Central Library is an upcoming spot with lots of great restaurants and cafés. Both these areas have fun vibes and aren’t jammed.
Cheers !
MrJ
Thank you Mr. J
Plus, could you interview Tony Leung?
Always loved his movies, especially Hard Boiled.
It would be great to hear about his Hong Kong.
Thanks for the suggestion!
I’ll write him and try my best!;)
Mr J, are there any pubs in HK serving their own brew?
Hey Gogie,
Check out Tipping Point on Wyndham street. They are best that I know.
Anyone else know any?
Cheers
MrJ
