Street snap: Breaking the Rules

image

Sometimes when out shooting you come across scenes which are funny, random or quirky. However, the trick is, capturing the scene quick enough to get a decent shot, that has good composition, is sharp and exposed properly. This doesn’t always happen, and (photography) rules need to be broken. The pics today are examples of capturing the moment of funniness while breaking the rules of photography. Leave me a comment if you would like to hear the story behind each picture; the shoe one is especially weird!

Hi Casey, the story behind the shoe pic is really strange but not really if you consider that there are a large number of people in HK with in diagnosed mental illness.
For 4 years I traveled on the star ferry from central to TST. Almost everyday I would see this elderly couple shuffle into the ferry pier. They would usually stand at the boarding gate, he would read his newspaper and ignore his wife. She would stand next to him for a few minutes whispering and squeaking profanities at him. Just before the gate would open she would take off her shoe, use her finger nail to scrape out some of the stuff that usually collects in a show and then, in one swift motion she would wave and tip the contents over his head…yuck! This happened every time i saw them, sometimes even twice. Only once did I see him retaliate, he punched her on the arm, stamped his foot and stormed off ahead of her. What a show!

By the way, sorry for the late reply!
      Cheers
      Sean
