As a designer I spend a lot of time sourcing things for clients. I prefer, when given the opportunity, to design objects and have them custom made. Last April when we moved into our new apartment in Hong Kong I decided to take that opportunity and paint each room, hang all of our art around the house, hang hooks and change all the lighting. I wanted to do a full makeover without spending big money. Previously, I have designed and made rugs and mobiles for my clients, but this was my chance to add lighting to that list. In our living room, I wanted something raw and rustic over the dining room table. I designed and created the first JAR light called YELLOW3. The light uses 3 different bulb sizes, each with different shapes to play with the form. The yellow cable also plays nicely with the ‘Escape the Everyday’ non-toxic VOC free Mythic paint I used. To enquire about your own custom JAR light, which come is several different colors, lengths and bulb shapes contact JARDesign@me.com Or check our my website at http://www.JARDesign.hk

Very cool, thanks for sharing. As someone who really appreciates the importance of well-designed lighting, I’m thrilled that we can still use many of our favorite lamps here (we just moved to HK in the summer from the US). But we’re having a bear of a time finding a place that sells really good bulbs with soft, warm light. Any ideas or recommendations about sourcing for non-designers?
Hi. Thanks for your interest in The Guest Room. I’ve found some good bulb options in Sheung Wan along Po Hing Fong. There are a couple shops along that street you can check out. I hope that helps. Mrs. J
Ok, I’ll definitely check that area out. Thank you so much!
Thank you again so much! We found exactly what we wanted at Eclectic Cool..much appreciated!
You’re welcome! Glad I could help.
